It is generally recommended to start from the upstream corner and close up at the downstream. Inserting steel sheet piles in this order can, on the one hand, effectively prevent sedimentation within the cofferdam; on the other hand, it can cause the water flow to wash away a large amount of sediment, indirectly reducing the workload of sediment excavation; more importantly, The cofferdam can be effective and safe. If it is a circular steel sheet pile, the principle is the same, starting from the upstream, going around both sides, and ending at the downstream.

During the driving process of steel sheet piles, attention should be paid to controlling the verticality, because the vertical driving of steel sheet piles is the most critical factor in ensuring construction quality. Especially for the first steel sheet pile driven, to ensure its verticality, it is best to operate the steel sheet pile in two vertical directions at the same time to avoid the steel sheet pile from tilting. In addition, when the steel sheet pile cofferdam is closed, it is necessary to ensure that the locks on both sides are on the same straight line; therefore, it is recommended to close in advance when the remaining few steel sheet piles are not driven in. It is recommended to insert all the remaining steel sheet piles in sequence first, and then drive them one by one after adjusting them appropriately. If the remaining steel sheet pile cofferdam has not been closed using this method, you can also choose special-shaped steel sheet piles to fill the gap according to the actual conditions of the construction site.

When constructing steel sheet piles, it is often encountered that the cofferdam is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. This situation will affect the insertion of other steel sheet piles. Therefore, the way to solve this kind of problem is to push the adjacent steel sheet piles from the upper end of the steel sheet piles and try to ensure that the widths of the steel sheet piles are about the same as each other.
